If you are interested in our discount programs or other financial information, read the other questions on this page or visit our business page.
ARE THERE ANY ANNUAL (YEARLY) FEES OR OTHER COSTS?
No. There are no license fees or other periodic costs for LaserMaxx systems.
WHAT ARE THE COSTS FOR SYSTEM INSTALLATION AND TRAINING?
The system itself is nearly plug-and-play on arrival. Installation and training of the operators at your site is free, and will take approximately one day. Travel and stay of our technical staff is not included in this arrangement.
ARE THE COMPUTER AND PRINTER INCLUDED IN A LASERMAXX SYSTEM?
Yes. Every system includes the lasergame vests (suits / packs / bodies and guns), a Compaq computer running Microsoft Windows XP, an HP LaserJet printer for the scorecards, a special WIFI modem, and a few minor items. These are all included in the price of a system.
HOW LONG IS THE WARRANTY (GUARANTEE) ON YOUR SYSTEM?
The standard warranty for the system and its components is 12 months. However, for a small additional fee this can be extended to 36 months. Obviously, certain restrictions apply.
WHAT ARE THE COSTS FOR SPARE PARTS?
These can be found in the full LaserMaxx price list. To receive it, please leave us your name and e-mail address on the contact page. We can tell you that our spare parts have the lowest price in the lasergame market.
CAN I TRADE IN MY OTHER LASERGAME SYSTEM FOR A LASERMAXX SYSTEM?
Yes. Many lasergame operators have already done this to take advantage of our excellent service and low costs. It is called our Competitive Upgrade Program. To convince you of the benefits, we will give you a high trade-in refund for your old system of up to 25% of the LaserMaxx price.
DO YOU ALSO SELL SECONDHAND LASERGAME SYSTEMS?
Yes, sometimes. Because many operators switch to the LaserMaxx system, we sometimes have old trade-in systems from other brands for sale. Occasionally, we even have secondhand LaserMaxx systems for sale. These are completely refurbished and serviced. Contact us if you want to know what is in stock.
WHAT IS YOUR PAY-PER-PLAY PROGRAM, AND CAN I APPLY FOR IT?
Pay-per-Play, or whatever other people call it, was invented by Multimax Electronics B.V. in 1997. It means that you don’t buy the lasertag system, but pay a very small fee for every player that plays with it. This small fee includes the servicing costs. You only pay for games that were actually played, so your investment risk is totally eliminated.
The best thing is that after a certain number of games, the system is yours automatically! Also, you can always decide to buy the system with a large discount during your Pay-per-Play period.
The price of the Pay-per-Play program is included in our full price list. To receive it, please leave us your name and e-mail address on the contact page. Obviously, since this is a financing program, certain restrictions apply.
IF I WANT TO ORDER A COMPLETE LASERMAXX SYSTEM, HOW LONG DO YOU NEED TO MANUFACTURE THE ITEMS?
Delivery time is typically 8 weeks, depending on other running orders and maybe the size of your system. Keep in mind that this is also the minimum time you will need to build your lasergame arena!
WHAT SHOULD I DO WHEN I WANT TO OPEN A LASERMAXX SITE?
When you start a lasergame site, there are many, many things to do! Here are a few things that are very important and should be done as soon as possible:
1. think about who your players will be, where they come from, and what they want
2. find a location for your arena, instruction room, bar and other facilities
3. organize your financing
4. make sure you have all the local permits and licenses
5. talk to us about LaserMaxx systems
6. think about your theme (space, wild-west, urban, jungle, children, etc.)
7. get insurance
8. start advertising weeks before your opening, otherwise nobody will show up!
9. start building the arena soon; this is much more work than you expect!
CAN I BECOME A DISTRIBUTOR FOR LASERMAXX LASERGAMES?
We do not have distributors, only Business Partners. Your are welcome to join our International Business Partner Program. Feel free to contact us about the requirements.
DO YOU HAVE SITES IN OTHER COUNTRIES OUTSIDE THE NETHERLANDS?
Yes. We have many clients outside The Netherlands and much experience working in other countries. Most LaserMaxx sites are in Europe, but we will gladly help you outside Europe. Contact us personally for more information.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I OPEN THE FIRST LASERMAXX SITE IN MY COUNTRY?
In that case you can apply for our Country-Premier discount, which can be up to 25% of our regular price! Ask us for the details.
WHY ARE THERE NO LASERGAMES IN GERMANY AND AUSTRIA? CAN I OPEN ONE THERE?
In Germany and Austria games in which players shoot at each other are not allowed. That is why there are no lasergames is those countries.
HOWEVER, Multimax Electronics B.V. is the first manufacturer with a special lasergame that is allowed on the German market! It is called LaserMission. Visit the LaserMission website.
IF MY SITE IS OUTSIDE THE NETHERLANDS, HOW DOES YOUR COMPANY HANDLE SERVICING?
We have much experience with LaserMaxx sites outside The Netherlands. When you send us the parts that need servicing, we guarantee that they will be sent back very quickly. We provide you with special sealed containers for shipping and some basic spare parts.
In several European countries we have trained LaserMaxx servicing organizations. Whenever possible our company and servicing organizations will assist you in your own language. You can always ask our other clients about their experiences with our service.
DO YOU SHIP MATERIALS TO MY COUNTRY AND WHAT ARE THE COSTS?
Yes. Using official transportation companies we ship materials wherever possible. If you live in a country that cannot be reached by standard transportation firms (because of weather or war) we cannot ship there. The cost of shipping depends on where you live and what is shipped.
CAN I DO SMALL REPAIRS MYSELF?
Yes. We provide you with some basic spare parts that are easily exchanged. All parts of the LaserMaxx system are modular, which means that they are very simple to swap. Keep in mind that this is nearly never required. Part of our instruction to you is demonstrating how this is done.
DO YOU PROVIDE LASERMAXX MARKETING MATERIAL THAT WE CAN USE?
Yes. We have many photographs, logo’s and examples of posters and flyers that you can use free of cost when you decide for LaserMaxx equipment. Most of it is available in high-resolution (print-ready) digital format. We are working hard to offer more marketing materials in the near future.
DO YOU PROVIDE A SAFETY CERTIFICATE FOR THE LASERS?
Yes. With every system we provide one Class II safety certificate regarding the lasers.
HOW MUCH MONEY SHOULD I CHARGE MY PLAYERS?
In The Netherlands typically between EURO 7.50 and EURO 8.50 is charged per player for one game. We recommend that you charge approximately the local price of 5 glasses of Coca Cola. It is wise to make the second game for a player somewhat cheaper than the first, or make playing cheaper on quiet times of the week.
HOW MUCH MINUTES DOES ONE GAME LAST?
The duration of each game can be chosen by you, the operator. In The Netherlands typical play-time is between 12 and 20 minutes. Please note that 12 minutes is a good time and 20 minutes may be too long for this high-energy game.
Obviously, this does not include the time you spend on explaining the rules and watching the enthusiastic players discuss the game while having a drink at your bar. A good turnover rate is 3 groups per hour. On very busy hours you can make the games shorter for a higher turnover rate.
BETWEEN WHAT AGES CAN PEOPLE PLAY LASERGAMES?
People of every age will have fun playing this game. Our vests are lightweight and suit all sizes, small persons, and children. We believe that starting at age 7 children can take part in the game. Specifically for children we also manufacture Laserfun lasergames, which are smaller and come in child-friendly colors. Visit the Laserfun website.
HOW MUCH SPACE OR VESTS DO I NEED FOR MY ARENA?
The optimal size of your arena depends on the number of LaserMaxx vests that you plan to use, and vice versa. We recommend that you start with not too many vests. If your business expands you can always buy additional vests from us.
To give you an indication of the approximate required space, see the table below. These values are an indication only. Don’t forget that you also need an area to store the vests and instruct the players.
number of vests minimum required arena space
10 300 m2 (~ 3200 square feet)
15 450 m2 (~ 4800 square feet)
20 600 m2 (~ 6500 square feet)
DO YOU PROVIDE ARENA BUILDING SERVICES?
No. But we have much knowledge of lasergame arenas and themes. We will gladly provide you with free specialized advice. If you want our advice at your location, we ask that you provide us with the costs of travel and stay only.
WHAT IS EVOLUTION-IV?
Since we started making LaserMaxx lasergames, our systems have evolved to become stronger, more fun, and easier to operate and manage. To keep track of these changes we call our older systems Evolution I and Evolution II. Our newest system has many improved features (named shooting, improved speech and sound, and more) and is called Evolution-IV.
All evolutions are fully mobile systems and of highest quality materials (plastics, cables, electronics, PC and laser printer). The features listed here apply to the most recent software versions within each evolution.
Evolution-I
Centralized starting of games, manual retrieval of hits-information (no radio control). Good sound and speech. MS-DOS console software. Complete playing and scorecard capabilities. Two backup systems for guaranteed business continuity.
Evolution-II
Full wireless (WIFI) control for very easy operation. Windows XP console software with game-integrated sound effects and full MP3 support. Extra game features. Tournament support. Operator scripting. Extensive data collection for business management and marketing. Three backup systems for guaranteed business continuity.
Evolution-III
As Evolution-II, plus: named shooting, strongly improved sound and speech technology (with many voice commands), extra game features, higher player excitement through faster blinking LEDs, lightweight high capacity batteries (playtime up to 16 hours), optional vest colors, support for external LCD score displays, support for using your own language on all scorecards and screens, extra type of scorecard, operator password protection, improved user-interface.
WHAT IS NAMED SHOOTING?
Named shooting in our Evolution-IV system means that operators can choose to enter the names of players into the computer before the game starts. When a player is hit during the game, his/her LCD display will show from whom the shot was (for example “Hit by: Michael”). This feature is optional for the operator to use.
In our Evolution-I and II systems, the LCD display will for example show “Hit by: Player 23”. In both cases full scoring information is available on the scorecard, so players can see exactly who they hit or were hit by.
WHAT ARE EXTERNAL SCORE DISPLAYS?
They are screens (LCDs, monitors, beamers) that display the scores, highscores, and other information to the players in the waiting areas, such as the bar area. Our system supports this.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN WITH OPTIONAL VEST COLORS?
We can also supply our vests is red or blue plastics, instead of the standard black color. Matching gun colors are optional.
WHY DOES IT SAY THAT YOUR SYSTEMS ARE MOBILE?
Because you can play it anywhere you want. The LaserMaxx lasergame system needs no big installations or cables. We can provide you with a simple mobility package that you can carry with the vests to any location. We have much experience with playing in company offices, castles, discotheques, parties, sport clubs, schools, etc. This is also the reason that our systems appeared in many European TV game shows.
IS IT POSSIBLE TO PLACE EXTRA TARGETS IN THE ARENA WITH WHICH PLAYERS CAN EARN BONUS-POINTS BY SHOOTING AT THEM?
Yes. The mines will give players special powers (machine gun, invisibility, invulnerable, spy) and bonus-point when players hit them. They can also shoot players, if you want them to.
WHAT IS THE SHOT-DISTANCE FOR YOUR EQUIPMENT?
We configure our guns to be 100% accurate up till 35 meters for indoor use.
WHY DO YOU AND MOST OTHER MANUFACTURERS USE INFRARED LIGHT FOR SHOTS AND NOT THE LASER?
Because using the laser beam for shots would make it impossible to hit other people. The beam is too precise to hit any sensors on another person. The laser is only for visual effect.
HOW MANY COLORS CAN THE LEDS (LIGHTS) ON THE VESTS HAVE?
The LEDs that are on our vests and guns can become three colors: red, green and yellow. We use yellow for status purposes but not as a team color. Red and green are the possible team colors.
HOW CAN YOU SEE IF YOU HIT ANOTHER PLAYER?
Every vest will always give a yellow flash when hit. Furthermore, you (the operator of the system) can decide what color and flashes the LEDs in the vest should be when hit.
CAN YOU TELL ME MORE ABOUT THE GUNS YOU USE?
The guns are made of very strong, high durability plastics. There is a normal trigger and an extra button on the side of the gun. This button is for optional two-handed shooting, but can be switched off in the software. Two-handed shooting is a safety option. It prevents players from swinging their guns around with one hand and hurting each other. The cable we use is the absolute best-in-the-business. There is a hit-sensor in the barrel of the gun for added excitement. This sensor can be switched off in the software. There is a holding clip on the gun that hooks it to the vest.
PLEASE TELL ME MORE ABOUT THE SCORECARDS
After every game the laser printer prints out a scorecard for each player. Our systems support multiple types of printed information that you, the operator, can choose. If you want to, you can pre-print the scorecard papers with advertisements, and let our laser printer print the score information over it.
I AM THINKING ABOUT A NEW GAME AND AM LOOKING FOR A MANUFACTURER; ARE YOU INTERESTED?
Yes. We are a flexible and enthusiastic electronics company that also makes specialized games for television. If you want to talk to us about your idea, just contact us.
IS THE LASERMAXX SYSTEM AND SERVICE REALLY THAT GOOD?
Yes. Quality, durability and good service are most important to us. Feel free to ask any of our clients or competitors.
